1950’s 18k Hand Engraved Dunhill Aldunil Petrol Lighter w/Rubies
Introduced in 1952, the Aldunil was only marketed in France and the petrol version was only produced for a short period before it was replaced by the butane version.
This hand engraved, 18k solid gold example is truly a one of a kind work of art. The engraved floral design further incorporates a cabochon cut ruby in the center of each flower for a total of fifteen rubies! Four French eagle head hallmarks ensure the authenticity and purity of solid 18k gold. This lighter has an opulent and luxurious feel in hand. This is easily the finest Dunhill Aldunil I have seen in over 20 years of collecting vintage smoking items and its condition is outstanding.
The Aldunil came in three sizes, this piece is a size small (46mm x 27mm x 12.5mm).
Weight: 63 grams
Condition: 9/10 – Amazingly pristine condition. Two of the fifteen rubies have been slightly shaved down, none are missing. The included velvet case has likely contributed to preserving the positively gorgeous condition of this lighter.
Memento Vivere!
